I’ve been using Olsen Electric since 2009. They’re really easy to work with and super pleasant. Always willing to do new things. Particularly with A/V components, that’s significant. For all of the A/V, Kris nails it.
Olsen is one of the first companies that went into LED and specialty lighting. Once, we were trying to light a shower in a unique way, and Kris did a bunch of leg work for us. He always figures out who you are, what you need, and recommends the equipment that makes the most sense. Polite. On time. Clean. They show up right away and with a good attitude. Their prices are very fair and in there with other top electricians. I have some extremely paranoid friends who don’t let in workmen unless their husband is home. Kris Olsen is on the short list. I bought a house in Promontory about 6 years ago. Olsen Electric had done the original work, and the project had come to a stop.
We came in, I interviewed several contractors, and I was impressed at how committed Olsen was to finishing the project. My father was a general contractor, and I have a background as an electrical engineer. I design A/V systems, and the Olsens were completely willing to embrace new ideas. They were completely a pleasure to deal with. Olsen Electric comes in, quotes the job, and that’s what they do it for. They charge a fair price for everything. He just did a warrantee job and bent over backwards to make sure everything was covered, and made sure it was clear what his time was going to cost. Olsen keeps their word and has a high level of integrity. I would love to see these guys grow to where the go-to electrical contractor for Park City. - luxury homeowner |

They’re really good electricians, really energetic, really smart, and really good guys.
They’re also really, really good at the challenging stuff. They figure out stuff other people can’t. I certainly can’t. I can’t find a job they can’t do. You can call ‘em up and they get there right away. They make life easy for me. It’s almost automatic. I’ve been using them extensively since 2010, and have known Mark Olsen for quite a long time before that. I’ve used them a lot in commercial and residential. They’re very real world. I’ve been working with Olsen Electric close to 30 years. I like them because even when I’m under the gun, they come in and get the job done. They always pull it off.
When they bid, there’s no surprise. They’re good about getting their numbers right to begin with. Mark and Kris have never given me a budget they didn’t meet. Last week, they brought in a crew of 8 and pulled a 6,000 square-foot house out of thin air. And they were ahead of schedule. I build my own homes, I’m meticulous and I don’t like contractors. Over the years, I’ve moved on to other subs, but have kept with the Olsens with 23 years. They’ve built their business around integrity and competence
They’re very fair in terms of the way that they approach the job. They have a work ethic that’s often missing. And they don’t try to add complexity to things that aren’t complex. The intangibles are important. Kris gets along well with other subcontractors, and is extremely aware. A great example of how one sub’s behavior on the job site can influence the others. A lot of subs don’t care about other subs and crap all over each other. Kris the most affable person ever to work with. They also step into the role of thinking what I would want and try to figure it out from my perspective. We have a lot of mutual respect. We both like working on jobs that are well managed.
