Why on earth would you have an electrical contractor
Olsen is unusual in this respect: this is where electrical contracting meets electronic entertainment. We offer a breadth of experience that rivals many A/V specialists—often with better value. We’re already in your home pulling wires. And we understand home entertainment in the context of the entire home electrical picture. And let's face it: it's fun helping you have more fun in your home.
We are not audio geeks.
We don’t sit around listening to pink noise. We’re regular people who understand real-world entertainment systems. We don’t recommend more than you need or want, and we don’t impose unrealistic expectations upon your A/V system. The kind of guy who’d spend $30,000 on a pair of stereo speakers and sit listening critically to audiophile recordings of classical performances already knows: that isn’t what we do. But for the homeowner who wants a really great music system and a home theater that makes the family and friends sit up and say, “Wow!”, we’re happy to oblige.
We also have something the A/V guys don't: a license.
As electricians, we’re subject to laws and regulations, and are required to have continuing education—which includes audio/visual. A/V companies are not subject to the same regulations. And as electricians, we’re already on the job. We know the routes. We understand wiring. And we’ve even been told by satellite installers we know that our home entertainment installations are among the best they’ve ever seen.
We also cover the warranty for everything.
That means everything: from the equipment we sell to the installation we perform on it. Just as with lighting design, if something fails, there’s no head scratching about whom to call or any debate about who’s going to cover it. We do it all.
No home automation required.
A lot of folks are also under the impression they need full-on home automation just to run the entertainment system. But in these days of the entertainment system being controllable through a smartphone or tablet app, using centralized home automation purely to run stereo and movies is obsolete. Is whole-house automation beneficial? Depending on the house, absolutely. But unless you want lighting controls and other whole-house remote functions, you don’t need automation. Then again, if you’re interested in going whole hog, we can always work with you to make that happen with a sophisticated, user-friendly system like Novus or Sonos.
We also work only with the best.
That means home entertainment equipment suppliers who appreciate our philosophy. We sell only what makes sense for a client, not what makes sense for the manufacturer. If a manufacturer demands that we sell X number of units to remain a vendor of their product, we just don’t do business with them. Because we aren’t about selling boxes and moving units. We’re about the right, high-quality products for people who need them. Any manufacturer who shares our philosophy of quality before quantity is someone we want to do business with—and they’re someone we can feel good about recommending to our clients.
And we're not afraid to get dirty.
We’ll get into the crawl spaces and pull the wires we need to pull. And when it comes to pre-wires and installs, because we're already electrical specialists, adding the A/V element really doesn't change anything for us. What it changes for you is simple: better value.
